How to make life an adventure:

To make life an adventure, it’s really important to trust yourself to leave your comfort zone and attempt to accomplish or create something new and awesome. It’s crucial to understand that the most exciting version of life doesn’t happen in the comfort zone. It happens when we strike out on our own, create amazing adventures for ourselves, and experience more of everything that life has to offer.

When I talk about the hero’s arc, what I’m mostly referring to is the process of being willing to leave your comfort zone in life to have an adventure

See, as alpha-minded men and women, we don’t want to just sit in the comfort zone for our entire lives.

We want to get out into the world, create things, accomplish things, meet people, have adventures, and live life to the fullest.

I often talk about the importance of striving to be the best man or woman in the room.

However, in order to become an effective human, you have to be willing to put yourself in the midst of challenges and overcome obstacles to reach new heights of success and achievement.

And at the core, this is really the template for adventure

See, adventure is scary to a lot of people because it automatically comes with a certain amount of conflict.

I totally understand this.

Adventure is a scary thing.

I know this firsthand because I spent the entire decade of my 20s living in a perpetual state of fear and risk aversion.

However, this is also why I never accomplished anything meaningful with my life until I hit my 30s.

This is why my life felt dull, lifeless, and dead—even though I should have been living my best years and having the grandest of life adventures.

Well, nowadays, I don’t waste time looking back on those days with regret. I look back on them as a lesson in how I don’t want to live moving forward

Simply put, I don’t want to stay in my comfort zone.

I want to get out into the world, challenge myself, overcome obstacles, and achieve success on my own merits.

And this entire process is encapsulated in what I call the hero’s arc.

In this article, I’m going to get very real with you about how you can embark on the hero’s arc in your own life journey.

Hopefully, these tips will resonate with you and will help you to understand that you don’t have to live a risk-averse, boring, passionless life of chaos and mediocrity.

Instead, you can live a life of greatness, excellence, and adventure.

So let’s jump into it.

Why Bother Making Your Life An Adventure?

My answer to this question is simple.

I want my life to be an adventure because as far as I know, I only get one.

I don’t want to waste it rotting away in the comfort zone.

I don’t want to piss it away playing video games, smoking weed, sitting on my couch, getting drunk, consuming junk food, and never doing anything meaningful.

I want to go out into life and truly live!

I want to:

  • Achieve success in life.
  • Succeed with women.
  • Have amazing relationships with other humans.
  • Get real money and become a millionaire.
  • Build big businesses that impact the world and change lives.
  • Write books that are going to challenge people and help them in amazing ways.
  • Be an incredible father.
  • Be a leader to my circle, family, and tribe.
  • Break new ground for the human species, and accomplish things that have never been accomplished before.

Now, from sitting in the comfort zone, this all sounds great as a theory.

However, the hard part about all of this is that it requires us to face challenges and overcome them.

And let’s be honest—that’s not always the funnest, easiest, smoothest thing to do.

The very nature of ‘challenge’ brings with it a certain measure of danger.

And for those of us who’ve experienced being ‘stuck’ in a risk-averse lifestyle, we know that danger is the thing we fear the most.

We’re terrified of risking what little we already have, and we cling to the scraps of life that we do possess like a starving rodent.

This is the literal definition of a scarcity mindset.

But here’s the thing.

That’s not how we achieve greatness.

If you want to dine like a king, live like a king, give like a king, protect your family like a king, and conquer like a king…

You need to get off your ass, armor-up, strap your sword to your waist, and be willing to go on a king-worthy adventure.

You need to go out, slay the dragon, capture the treasure, and radically change the world.

And guess what? There’s no way to do that from within the comfort zone.

And I’ll be really honest with you…

There’s really no ‘safe’ way to do it, to any extent.

This is why I believe we should all take ourselves to task, to make sure that we’re living lives of true adventure. Because personally, I believe that the risk is worth it.

How To Make Life An Adventure And Embark On The Hero’s Arc

1. Identify Your Purpose

Do you know what your purpose in life is?

You can read an in-depth guide on how to figure this out here: How To Find Your Life Purpose And Achieve It – In 11 Steps

It’s crucial to understand your purpose and mission in life.

If you don’t understand these things, you’ll never have peace or solidarity in knowing where you’re headed in life.

This is like being adrift at sea, in a ship, without a destination or a map.

It’s crucial to understand what the goal is.

The more specific you can get in defining the goal, the better off you’re going to be.

2. Take Action And Begin The Journey

Creating a purpose for yourself is important.

But if that’s all you ever do, you’ll never leave the safe, comfortable, confined quarters of the comfort zone.

You’ll continue to spend your days living a mostly risk-averse lifestyle, wasting away valuable time that could be spent creating an amazing life and destiny, and pursuing excellence.

At some point, you’re going to have to take action.

You’re going to have to pack your bags, throw some rations into your travel pack, pick up your walking stick, and set out on a great adventure.

At first, you may not feel like you’re capable of reaching your destination or accomplishing your purpose.

That’s okay.

You’re probably not capable of reaching it yet.

This is where self-development comes in.

As we travel and take action, we grow stronger and more capable.

In fact, you need the journey to mold you into the incredible alpha man or woman you’re going to need to be to accomplish your purpose.

3. Be Willing To Leave The Comfort Zone

We’ve already addressed this to a pretty drastic extent—and I’m not even halfway done with this article yet.

I have a feeling that you’re probably already getting the message on this one.

Living in the comfort zone is a long-winded death sentence.

We must learn to become comfortable in discomfort.

We must learn to welcome danger as a sign of hidden treasure and success.

There’s just no other way to conceptualize it.

If you truly want to embark on your own hero’s arc and live a true life of adventure as an alpha mentality man or woman, this step is a must.

4. Face Challenges And Do Your Best To Overcome Them

fear

Life is going to present many challenges along the way.

  • You’re going to face challenges that are going to be difficult to overcome.
  • You’re going to face challenges that are going to knock you flat on your back and punch you in the face.
  • You’re going to face challenges that are absolutely going to make you want to give up and turn back.

But here’s the thing.

In overcoming challenges, we learn how to become strong, successful, powerful alphas.

This is the emotional weight training of life and leadership—and it’s crucial that you go through these challenges, even if they’re not altogether a fun experience.

5. Understand That Life Isn’t A ‘Safe’ Endeavor

Safety is a confusing concept.

As humans, we’re programmed to seek safety so that we can survive to hunt, gather, forage, and live another day.

However, it’s also true that if we never venture out from the safety of our cave or dwelling, we’ll never find new food to eat, water to drink, or materials to use to build better tools.

In other words—safety is a two-edged sword.

Yes, to a point, you need it (especially while you’re sleeping).

However, there’s also a point where it can become stifling and actually keep you from doing the things you need to be doing to create success for yourself.

Life isn’t altogether a safe endeavor.

I mean, think about it.

It’s not like you’re actually getting out of it alive.

Better to live your life to the hilt, embracing adventure, than to cower in your safe cave, living a risk-averse lifestyle with very meager hopes of any kind of payout or victory along the way.

You may as well shoot your shot and aim for greatness!

This is truly the mentality you need to embody if you want to embark on your own hero’s arc and adventure in life.

6. Realize That The Glory Of Victory Is Worth The Risk Of Defeat

I believe this to be true with all of my heart.

I believe that, as humans, we need hope in order to thrive and live a truly natural and organic human existence.

When you just sit in your comfort zone, the only hope you have is of living another day.

But if you learn to face challenges in life, and to understand that the rewards for venturing out into the unknown greatly outweigh the benefits of sitting in the comfort zone—and also that the risk of defeat is worth the victory you could achieve at the other end of that challenge—well, you learn that it’s actually much more favorable to just go out and face the danger rather than to sit in your cave and wish that ‘said danger’ didn’t exist.

7. Fail, Then Learn From Your Mistakes

purpose quote joshua sigafus

We’re all afraid of failure to a certain extent.

None of us want to think about the sting of defeat or the pain of getting knocked down.

But here’s the thing.

I promise you that it’s going to happen.

In fact, failure is going to happen regardless of whether you venture out of your comfort zone and have an adventure or not.

But here’s the thing about the hero’s arc.

It demands that we not just understand that failure is inevitable, but that we also actually embrace it and use it to learn from our mistakes.

This requires a lot of self-responsibility and courage.

But hey, that’s why I call it the hero’s arc

Heroes are not fearless in the face of failure.

They just understand that they need to face it, and they’re willing to be brave enough, despite their fear, to do that.

If you want to learn more about how to face and overcome failure, read this article: How To Handle Failure In Life – 9 Methods That Actually Work

8. Analyze, Adapt, And Pivot To Overcome

When you suffer a failure or a defeat, you’re going to be tempted to give up.

But on the hero’s arc, you have no such option.

See, a true hero understands that they can’t just retreat to the comfort zone when things get tough.

An alpha hero understands that they need to look at that failure as a painful learning opportunity.

They need to analyze their failure, adapt their methods, and then pivot to overcome the next time around.

Sometimes, this is a frustrating process.

Sometimes, this will make you feel like there are five problems for every solution.

But this is the nature of the alpha journey and the hero’s arc.

If you truly want to achieve greatness in life, then it’s crucial that you be willing to analyze, adapt, and pivot to overcome in the wake of failure.

9. Always Pursue Your Hero’s Arc – Never Relent And Never Stop Being A True Alpha Hero

begin the journey

Listen, the hero’s arc is a lifelong endeavor.

Personally, for me, this hero’s arc process really started with me setting some goals I wanted to achieve by the time I was retired.

This gave me a pretty long-term plan to look forward to.

But look, that’s not the end of the road either.

Nowadays, I have plans that stretch literally to the end of my life.

I’ll never stop striving to live a life of adventure, or to push myself to overcome new challenges and to accomplish new things.

This is just the way I’ve programmed my mind.

And to be honest, this is how you need to program your mind as well if you truly want to embrace the alpha mentality, climb to the top of the hierarchy, and achieve incredible success for yourself.

Contrary to what you might believe, you can achieve incredible success.

You can rise to the top of the hierarchy, succeed in all of the vital life domains that matter the most, and conquer your life while creating a true alpha empire for yourself as you see fit.

You can create your own destiny.

But all too often, people give up at some point along the way—and they just retreat to their comfort zone.

They sit down to rest—and upon resting, they perish.

I don’t want this for myself, and I don’t want it for you.

This is why it’s crucial that we never relent, and that we never stop seeking to be a true alpha hero who’s constantly pushing the boundaries and overcoming things to achieve greatness.
