What Is The Path To Success?
The path to success is the journey from where you are now, to where you want to be in the future. It is the series of steps that must be taken to fully realize your dream and accomplish your goals.
The path to success.
The day I decided to leave my 9 to 5 job and strike out on my own as a freelance content writer was the day that I first took real action to try to achieve success in my life.
Up until that point, I played it safe. Up until that point, I had never truly set foot into the unknown.
Now, almost 12 years later, I am still learning and still growing. But I’ve made a lot of discoveries, learned a lot, and figured out what it truly means to pursue and achieve success.
I’ve also done a lot of reading, and have studied the lives of men and women who have truly succeeded in their lives.
And in all of this, I have discovered 18 vital elements that truly encapsulate the path to success.
In This Post: I’m Going To Share The Secret To The Path Of Success
If you want to truly succeed in life, transform your future, and become the person you’ve always dreamed of becoming, you need to be incorporating all 18 of these vital elements into your life.
I know that it sounds complicated. But I promise that it isn’t!
It is hard work. But I am a firm believer in the fact that anyone can do it!
In other words, I believe this to be infinitely true.
If you are willing to do the work, you are 1000% capable of finding the path and winning!
Let’s break it down. Here are the 18 vital elements that you need to incorporate to walk a true path to success.
1. You Need To Understand Your Purpose
If you don’t understand your purpose, you are constantly going to struggle in life.
Your purpose is your foundation, and you identify it by figuring out what problem you want to help people solve in life.
Ask yourself these questions.
How do I want to change the world and make life better for other people? What problem do I want to solve?
If you don’t know what your purpose in life is, check out this post.
You need to understand your purpose if you truly want to succeed at the highest levels of the game in this life.
Otherwise, you will be like a ship lost at sea, with no plan, direction, or hope.
2. You Need A Vision
Do you have a specific vision for your future?
Can you picture where you want to be in 5, 10, 20, or even 50 years?
If not, it’s time to start!
I visualize myself as a public speaker, author, and world-renown authority on human mating behavior.
I envision myself living in a beautiful house with many bedrooms so that my friends and family can choose to live with me if they need/want to!
I envision waking up every day and doing exactly what I am passionate about doing that day.
I want to write books, coach people to find greater success, and push the known boundaries of what we understand about human mating behavior.
Create a vision for your life. Figure out how you want it to look.
And then write it down! This will give you something to shoot for.
Pro Tip: Make it big! Be honest with yourself! Don’t set tiny goals. Dream big!
3. You Need To Set Goals
If you don’t set goals, you’ll just drift around in life. And people who just drift either don’t get much accomplished, or they tend to do too many of the wrong things, and not enough of the right things!
I’ve been into goal-setting ever since I was young. Back when I was 22 years old, I started setting goals for my freelance writing business—and my goals have only continued to evolve and get bigger since that day.
Personally, I like to write my goals down. In fact, the best idea is to write them down every single day. This keeps them sharp in your mind, and helps you to visualize them.
4. You Need A Plan
Having a vision and setting goals are fundamental to success.
But without a plan to execute on those goals, you are going to flounder.
For me, plans happen in both the long term and the short term.
I make plans for the day to help me meet my short term goals.
But I also make plans for the long-term to help me work toward my future goals.
Making a plan may require you to start keeping a daily planner.
You may need to schedule out your days, weeks, and months.
It may require a lot of self-control. And to be honest, making a daily plan is challenging—because it often shows you exactly how much time you don’t have for the fun stuff!
But without a plan, we waste valuable time and energy that we could be spending chasing our goals.
5. You Need To Believe In Your Plan
Setting a plan is obviously a step in the right direction. But it is also important that you believe in that plan.
If you don’t believe in your plan, you won’t have hope. And honestly, hope is one of the most powerful driving forces of the human psyche.
I remember the first time I wrote down my goals and printed them out. I hung them up on the wall.
The first line said something like this.
I will earn $2,000,000 within 10 years through my online business.
You see, I was doing a few things right.
I was visualizing something. I was dreaming big. I was writing down goals. And I had a plan to achieve them.
But I’ll let you in on a little secret.
I didn’t actually believe in this plan.
I was hoping that it would work. But when it really came down to it, in my gut, I didn’t think that my business was even going to grow.
I had hope for a few fleeting seconds. But a few hours after I hung those goals up, I totally and completely lost faith that they were going to come to fruition.
Part of the problem was that I was focusing on the money instead of on what kind of value I was going to bring into the world.
I was focused on what I would get instead of what I would be doing.
I had not fully developed an understanding of how important it is to prioritize helping others over earning a profit.
Now, I have a much better vision of where I want my life to be in the next 2 years.
I want to replace the majority of my freelance writing work with my motivation, life, and dating coach business. I want to level up my income by a factor of 4 while helping other people to level up their own lives.
Do you see how this is subtly different?
And the best part about this is that I have zero doubt that I will achieve it!
As a result, I actually end up accomplishing more every day—because I am highly motivated to make my plan and vision a success!
6. You Need To Believe In Yourself
If you don’t believe in yourself, you’re going to struggle.
Personally, I learned to trust in my own abilities when my life fell apart back in 2017. My whole world came crashing down, and I had to rebuild it—all on my own, and all basically from scratch.
This process taught me that I could do anything I set my mind to.
As you embark on the path to success, make sure to cultivate trust for yourself.
Look at all of the things you accomplish every day, and remind yourself that you can do it!
If people try to tell you that you’re not capable—stop listening to them!
You can build that business. You can find a partner. You can achieve your goals.
You are capable and talented, and there is no reason why you cannot succeed!
7. You Need To Surround Yourself With People Who Are Better Than You
This is another lesson that I needed to learn the hard way.
I used to spend so much energy trying to impress people who actually had very little value in their lives.
They worked dead-end jobs, they weren’t positive, and they didn’t strive to make the world a better place.
Nowadays, however, I make sure to spend most of my time around humans who have a lot to offer.
I love spending time with people who make at least four times as much money as I do.
Because over the next few years, I want to grow my income by a factor of 4.
This means that I need to be spending time around people who have already achieved what I want to achieve in life.
It is so important to choose good company!
8. You Need To Eliminate Negativity
Negativity is such a killer.
The words we speak, the thoughts we think, the actions we take: all of it matters.
And negativity begets negativity.
The same is true for the people you spend time with.
If you spend time with debbie-downers and people who are always complaining, that energy is going to drag you down and destroy you.
So get away from it.
Speak positive words. Speak hopeful words.
Do things out of hope and love instead of bitterness or resentment.
Think positive thoughts instead of negative ones.
Our thinking patterns matter!
9. You Need To Eliminate Distraction
Eliminating distraction has been a big learning experience for me.
Once I started setting daily goals for myself, I became painfully aware of how much time I wasted on things that didn’t matter.
Browsing social media is probably one of my biggest challenges. I waste far too much time on social media.
I also used to waste time on video games.
And to be honest, I also used to struggle with scheduling too many fun things with my friends.
Instead, I work every day to stay laser-focused on my work. I only schedule a select few important fun friend hang-outs a week.
This helps me to keep my time under control, and helps me to avoid the problem of constantly getting distracted.
I still need to stay self-aware of my social media use.
But it gets better over time.
What tends to distract you? Figure it out and cut out those distractions.
Life is too short to spend on things we don’t care about, that aren’t going to contribute to the realization of our goals!
10. You Need To Stop Complaining And Being A Victim
I learned the hard way in life that complaining is literally the opposite of progress.
Whenever you complain, you give away all of your power to someone else.
Check out this post, where I talk about victim mentality and explain why it is so destructive and dangerous.
Seriously. If there is one thing you should do today to stop your life from going down the drain—it is to stop complaining!
11. You Need To Understand How Serious And Important The Path To Success Is
Listen very carefully to what I am about to say.
You only get one life (that we know of). You will make your choices, and your life will become what you make it. Then, you will die.
It is so important that we focus on the path to success.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my entire life to be owned by time-wasters, click-bait, and the trap of low wages and zero money.
I want freedom in my life. I want to choose my own path. I want to succeed on my own terms.
I want to leave a lasting legacy when I’m gone and change the world for millions of people while I’m here.
If you don’t want to take it seriously, don’t.
But for me, there is literally nothing that is more important. I want to conquer my challenges and accomplish my goals, and I want to avoid distractions and overcome failure at the same time.
That’s the legacy I want for myself. And if you want to succeed, it is very important that you become aware of the fact that we only have so much time on this planet to do the things we want to do.
So chase your purpose and your passion, and leave your authentic mark upon the world.
12. You Need To Enjoy Your Work
I have struggled a lot with the question of work-life balance.
On one hand, a lot of people use work-life balance as a means to justify why they aren’t putting more effort into their businesses.
But on the other hand, I also understand the importance of being reasonably happy while you live your life and pursue your goals.
I believe that this is the answer.
You need to be working on something that you love so that you can enjoy your work as you work toward success and accomplish your goals.
If you don’t love your work, you are already facing a seriously inefficient situation.
So starting today, work toward building something that you love.
I enjoy helping people. I love to help people with their dating lives. I love to help people with motivation and success.
So for me, writing blog posts like this one is not unpleasant. I truly enjoy it!
And that makes work a pleasure!
13. You Need To Work Harder Than Anyone Else
I have heard a lot of people lately talking about ‘toxic productivity culture,’ and that the ‘hustle mindset’ is actually unhealthy, promotes unhealthy work-life balance, and contributes to the detriment of happiness.
I call bullshit on this one!
If you want to succeed in business, I absolutely believe that you need to be the hardest working man or woman in any room.
For me, this is a constant battle of trying to stay focused and getting as much done every day as possible.
No, you don’t want your life to be miserable.
But you also don’t want your life to be meaningless or half-assed! Plus, there is nothing more miserable than getting into your 70s, and realizing that you don’t have any money, and can’t afford anything!
If you don’t hustle and work harder, you’re just not going to make the cut.
I find that being the hardest worker in the room is something we should constantly strive for.
Do you know what true happiness is for me?
Walking into a business networking meeting, and understanding that I’ve been working SO HARD that most of the people in this room didn’t outwork me the past week!
This makes me feel so much pride, and it brings me a lot of joy.
That’s what it’s all about!
14. You Need Powerful Thought Mentors To Help You
Spending time with positive people is huge.
But you also need to have powerful thought mentors to help you guide yourself on your journey!
For me, this includes men and women like:
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Dwayne Johnson
- Jordan Peterson
- Vanessa Van Edwards
- Gary Vaynerchuk
- Rick Ross
- Dave Ramsey
- And more
Every day, I make sure to spend some time listening to podcasts, reading books, watching videos, or reading blogs to help me learn from my thought mentors.
Exposing yourself to the ideologies of men and women who have accomplished more than you is so important in life, because it helps to straighten you out and keep you on the straight and narrow path to success!
Every time I study one of my thought mentors, I learn something new and do away with some kind of misconception I used to believe about success and the world.
Start putting some daily time into studying the men and women you admire the most!
Learn from them.
Try to adopt their habits and pattern yourself in their image, so that you can enjoy some of the same types of success.
15. You Need To Level Up Your Knowledge
Every single day, we need to be striving to level up our knowledge.
This week, I got two new books in the mail that are going to help me seriously level up my understanding of attraction and human mating behavior.
Every day, I am listening to 15-20 minutes of a podcast to help me better understand success, life, and sexual attraction.
There are a lot of voices right now saying do not consume content—create content.
But this isn’t a black and white game. What this really means is that you should spend 95% of your time taking action to further your goals, and 5% of your time leveling up your knowledge by reading, listening to, or watching awesome content that is going to help you learn more.
Knowledge truly is power.
The more you know, the more good you will be able to accomplish in your lifetime.
16. You Need To Let Go Of Being Comfortable
The comfort zone is where human dreams go to die.
Safe spaces are where humans sit down to undermine their true potential.
We live in a world where more and more people seem to be crumbling from depression and anxiety.
I’ve dealt with many of these issues in my life. I struggle with depression. I struggle with anxiety.
Defeating my fear of failure and the temptation to just get a ‘real job’ and play it safe is a daily battle for me.
But I have learned that we can only blaze new trails if we are willing to go somewhere new or different.
We can only make real forward progress and solve problems if we are willing to take risks.
And perhaps most importantly of all—I have learned that if you truly want to find success in your life, you must become comfortable feeling uncomfortable.
Being stretched beyond the limits of your comfortability needs to become your new normal.
17. You Need To Be Adaptable
Here’s the thing about plans.
Goals change as well.
And sometimes, even your purpose may change!
That’s ok. Change happens. And as long as it is taking you closer to the life you truly want, you are going in the right direction.
But changing your goal, or changing your vision, or changing the plan, requires that you be adaptable.
18. You Need To Be At Peace With Having No Life Aside From Your Goals
This is perhaps the toughest principle of all.
As a general rule, starting a business and chasing success requires you to do a lot more work than the average person.
If you want to live that 1% lifestyle, you need to put in that 1% work ethic!
One of the best quotes I’ve heard on this topic comes from one of my favorite thought mentors, Dave Ramsey.
Here’s the thing.
I’m not trying to say that you can’t do anything fun, ever.
I’m saying that every fun thing you schedule or say ‘yes’ to takes you away from work—which slows your progress and sets that success date back another few days.
I have found that working consistently and committing to an exhaustive work schedule makes my life richer in the end, because my time is being spent on something that is going to serve me better in the end anyway.
Going to the club with friends? It’s fun. I spend some money. I have a good time.
Staying home to write a blog post or record a YouTube video?
It is still fun, because I’m pursuing my purpose. I’m building my business at the same time. I’m making the world a better place, and working toward a future where I will be 100% financially independent due to my investments and how much money I am earning while I sleep.
I would much rather postpone my clubbing days for a few years. Once I hit a certain point in my business, I’ll be that much more successful and have even more power to use my time however I want to.
Why do we work?
Because when we put in the work now, we are actively delaying suffering that will inevitably come later.
That’s really the whole gig. We work to get ahead, and to stay ahead, so that we can live like we truly want to live in 2, 5, or 10 years!
In Conclusion – These Are The Top 18 Vital Elements To Traveling The Path To Success
Do you have what it takes?
Are you willing to look inside yourself, find your purpose, visualize the outcome, and work harder than anyone else?
If so, then you may truly have what it takes to achieve the life of your dreams and win.
That’s all I have for today. Go with grace, my friends, and never give up your power.
Until next time…
